HEALTH AND WELLNESS MINISTRY
Your body is a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Being unhealthy can lead to unhealthy thoughts and take your focus off of God's plans and purpose for your life. This ministry provides health education, health literacy, healthy nutrition, and health awareness and can have a direct impact on the health of the church and the disparities that exist among children of God.
-------------------------------------
MEMBERS CARE MINISTRY
Our VISION / MISSION is to provide encouragement, nurture, and support for the entire congregation with an emphasis on growing relationships, new believers, and discipleship. Our goal is to maintain church membership at 85%-90%.

AMES PRAISE SIGN MINISTRY (PSM)
Our purpose is to worship and to serve God through sign language and musical accompaniments. MINISTRY GOALS: We set a goal of two community outreach events each year. In addition to our scheduled 3rd Sundays of ministry to Ames, we will minister for in-home visits as well. Some of our musical accompaniments include "Worth Fighting For" by Brian Courtney Wilson and "Bless Me" by JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise. The Praise Sign Ministry does not call members for this ministry. It is our Lord, Jesus Christ, who chooses his disciples for this ministry.

CIVICS & CHESS MASTERS BOYS PROGRAM
Pastor Tilghman was tired of his generation and older saying that boys are the future and not giving them the whole truth, the education, and the skills TO BE THE FUTURE so he designed a Boys Program. The Problem: The African American community in Harford County, MD are disproportionately affected by the issues of voter suppression laws, statutes, and policies for justice, freedom, and equality. A Solution: Ames United Methodist Church, Coming of Kings Mentoring program, and Edgewood Elementary School came together for the first time in 2021 to address these disparities and to teach moral and civic responsibility within the community and Harford County.
The program’s goals, objectives, and desired outcomes!
• To teach the history of voters' rights from the reconstruction period to the present so that students can actively engage in civil rights issues and activism within Harford County and society.
• Boys will be taught by guest community organizers, legislators, and lobbyists on the principles of testifying, economics, and persuasion.
• "Coming of Kings" will teach chess, and strategy and offer recreation.
Ultimately our goal is to plant the seeds of empowerment and entrepreneurship that will encourage Black and Brown boys to take and play a more vested role in the betterment of their community.
